Zinc Anode is a type of anode used to prevent corrosion through cathodic protection. These are also classified as galvanic anodes, with other galvanic anodes made of aluminum or magnesium. The protective properties of zinc anodes result from a strong negative reduction potential, which is more negative than the protected metal. Oxidants, which corrode metal, oxidize the anode zinc rather than the protected metal structure, preventing the structure from rusting.
